Our commitment to safety starts with leadership accountability. Assisted by a team of HSE professionals, our managers and local crew supervisors serve as the first line of defense, with responsibility for ensuring that the workforce is competent and aware of all hazards.

The ultimate responsibility, however, lies with each C&J employee. On any job — no matter how large or small — employees are empowered with Stop Work Authority and a mandate to immediately halt all operations if they observe any conditions or actions they believe to be unsafe. Our safety values and practices — rooted in our commitment to do the right thing — are supported through open communication across the company, and they are supplemented by our awareness campaigns to address any hazards our workforce may face.

C&J Derrick Worker Recognized for Safety Excellence

Working on a Chevron site, Manuel Chavira noticed a loose pin in a third-party elevator, which made it unsafe to operate. He immediately used Stop Work Authority to bring operations to a halt and address the situation. For his commitment to safety and attention to detail, Manuel received the Chevron Clear Leader award – one of only four to be awarded globally.

Congratulations to Manuel for his dedication to doing the right thing!

Comprehensive competency and training programs are cornerstones of our industry-leading safety performance. Employees throughout C&J actively participate in behavior-based safety and hazard-recognition programs. To protect health at the worksite, we require all employees, without exception, to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for the task at hand. Driving safety is of utmost importance, because it is relevant to all employees throughout the organization and critical to protecting the communities in which we live and work.
